TICKETLESS PARKING: PARKING WITHOUT A TICKET AS ADDED CONVENIENCE FOR MOTORISTS
TICKETLESS PARKING IS THE FUTURE FOR OUR INDUSTRY. WITH SYSTEMS FOR LICENSE PLATE RECOGNITION, DESIGNA OFFERS CONTEMPORARY AND COST-EFFECTIVE SYSTEMS FOR CONTROLLING ENTRY AND EXIT FOR PARKING FACILITIES.
PARKING WITHOUT A TICKET IN A MANAGED PARKING AREA
The Ticketless parking process:
Approach
Approaching the entry barrier
The parking customer approaches the closed barrier at the entrance to the parking garage.
First capture
Use of LPR cameras at the entrance
A camera for license plate recognition scans the license plate and links this information with other data such as the time of entry. The advantage for the parking customer: In conventional parking management systems, a paper ticket would have to be removed from the lane device and stored securely. It must not be lost or damaged, as the time of entry is documented on it. This is no longer the case in ticketless systems.
Data Storage
Data storage in the cloud
The advantage for the parking lot operator is that no server has to be maintained locally and the data is protected against loss in the cloud.
Barrier opens
Opening of the barrier
For the customer of the parking garage, there is another major advantage: since the process from the approach to the barrier opening is almost uninterrupted, fast entry is guaranteed.
The parking garage operator is protected from traffic jams during high occupancy.
Park Duration
Vehicle is parked
The parking customer looks for a free parking space, exits his vehicle and carries out his intended task.
Identification
Identification by license plate number
To pay, the parking customer goes to one of the pay stations and enters the first digits of his license plate number on a touch screen. He then selects his license plate.
Payment
Calculation and payment
The parking fee is calculated and displayed based on the parking duration and the applicable tariff. The customer pays the amount in cash, EC/credit card or other offered means of payment. After the payment, the waiting time starts, the customer goes to his vehicle.
Second capture
Approach of the exit
As the vehicle approaches the closed barrier at the exit, the license plate is once again read and checked against the data in the cloud for a completed payment.
Exit
Automatic opening of the barrier
When approaching the barrier within the grace period, the barrier opens and releases the exit.
The exit is just as smooth as the entry. Once again, a time delay between approaching the barrier and its opening is hardly noticeable to the parking customer.
The risk of congestion at the exit is also reduced for the parking garage operator.
Parking operators and parking customers alike benefit from the elimination of the ticket through faster entry, exit and the elimination of ticket loss.

Parking garage operators or parking lot operators can realize a considerable savings potential if they take the step towards ticket-free parking. Installing a parking facility that relies exclusively on ticketless parking eliminates the need for lane devices at entry and exit for ticket issuance and collection, as well as a costly point-of-sale system.
Running costs are also reduced: no tickets are required, so the purchasing and disposal costs that would otherwise be incurred are eliminated. Service and support costs for the corresponding devices are eliminated. Ticketless parking is therefore also automatically more resource-efficient, at a time when environmental aspects are playing an increasingly important role for drivers as well.
Massive convenience boost for all stakeholders
The user of a parking garage or parking facility that operates ticketless also experiences a considerable gain in convenience: entry and exit are considerably accelerated, which shortens waiting times in front of the barrier even during peak periods. Customers no longer have to spend an inconvenient amount of time in the event of a lost ticket - this is no longer possible due to the lack of tickets. The operator also saves money in the support area as a result of this omission.
If parking registration is completely converted to online payment, customers also save time spent going to the pay station. For the operator, this eliminates the need for time-consuming and costly cash handling. Both short-term parkers and long-term parkers benefit significantly from the switch to ticket-free parking.
DESIGNA also offers the all-round package of barriers, cameras and, if desired, adapted cash register systems, i.e. the entire hardware, for ticket-free parking systems. But we also take care of the logistics behind the hardware completely for parking operators with our cloud solution. You don't need to operate your own server to implement ticketless parking in your parking garage, parking lot or on your company premises. Our service also includes the handling of the online booking of your offer, as well as the support in case something goes wrong with the entry or exit.
