A tailored parking solution for one of Europe's largest inner-city projects
Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier in the HafenCity is one of Europe's most ambitious inner-city development projects. For parking management, a solution was built that brings different requirements, user groups and traffic flows together in one integrated system.
Many uses, one system
The quarter combines retail, dining, leisure, hotels and further services, with correspondingly diverse parking requirements. The starting point was a conventionally planned parking solution that was fundamentally developed further during the project.
The goal was a solution that manages different user groups and traffic flows within a single facility, operationally efficient and user-friendly at the same time.
Ticketless, FREEFLOW and camera-based guidance
Working closely with the client, a tailored solution was created that combines several parking models in one facility: ticketless systems for short-term parkers and the FREEFLOW solution, complemented by dynamic pricing, mobile payment and contract-parker integration. Barrier-based and barrier-free areas are deliberately combined.
Together with Videte IT, a camera-based parking guidance system with single-space detection was implemented, reducing search traffic. The Designa Digital Solution (DDS) modules form the basis of the architecture and keep the solution flexibly expandable.
The hardware comprises 13 entry and 9 exit control devices, 18 pay stations, 34 LPR cameras and 21 barriers with DIBs, 97 components in total.
