On 11th January, 1951 Heinz Bula and Gerhard Vogel founded DESIGNA - German Society for Signals and Advertising Media Ltd. in Kiel-Projensdorf with three employees.

Originally the two founders manufactured traffic and advertising signs - until about 30 years ago when the first parking system was introduced. As a result of rapid technological development DESIGNA has been able to launch more and more complex and intelligent solutions.

Today, DESIGNA manages parking systems in more than 17,500 facilities worldwide. From individual parking garages to systems that handle tens of thousands of airport parking spaces, taxis, or employee entrances and exits, our technology is seamlessly integrated across cities. Digital integration and open interfaces provide flexible solutions, contributing to mobility solutions for the future. We connect app developers and third-party interfaces, integrating EV charging solutions and comprehensive billing and discounting features into parking management.

We are proud to connect our development department, manufacturing, all supply chain and administrative departments, marketing and sales, as well as their employees on our premises in Kiel. A lean organization and short, direct leadership and communication paths secure our position in the market as a technology leader and innovator.

DESIGNA AXESS INDUSTRIES HOLDING

DESIGNA is no longer alone; it has strengthened its position through collaboration. DESIGNA DIGITAL SOLUTIONS (DDS), based in Klagenfurt, is now fully integrated into DESIGNA. DDS offers manufacturer-independent software solutions tailored for operators using third-party hardware. Their hosted services play a crucial role in digitizing parking spaces and contributing to the mobility transition.

Additionally, AXESS, our sister company from Salzburg, collaborates with us not only in technology transfer but also across various areas such as development, sales, and marketing. AXESS provides comprehensive solutions worldwide in sports, leisure, museums, attractions, and tourist transportation. For instance, their technology is used in the Bundesliga, NFL stadiums, and global ski resorts.
